When offered an upgrade to Platinum Awards at no extra cost, the question most people ask is, what’s the catch? Well the good news is there isn’t one.

We recognise you as a valuable Commonwealth Bank customer and we’d like to reward you with an upgrade to Platinum Awards at no extra cost. It’s our way of saying thanks for being with us. This means you’ll receive all the additional benefits of Platinum Awards for the same annual fee as your current card for as long as you hold Platinum Awards.

While accepting your Platinum Awards upgrade is as easy as activating your new card, we understand that you might have a few questions you'd like answered first.

Once your new credit card is activated, your old one will be cancelled immediately. This means any regular payments you have set up will need to be updated. It’s easy; just call up your gym, power company, telco or whoever you have a direct debit with and advise them of your new card number and expiry date. Make sure you consider monthly, quarterly and annual direct debits.

If you’re not sure who you have direct debits with, simply check your old credit card statements. Direct debits are a personal agreement between you and your service provider so unfortunately we can’t assist you with this. However we do have a handy letter template that you can use to make this easier.
