What if the currency I am withdrawing from isn’t AUD?

The Visa exchange rate at the time of the withdrawal will be used to calculate the AUD 3.50 equivalent of the foreign currency.

What will I be charged if I am in Japan and want to withdraw the JPY loaded on my Travel Money Card?

We’ll use the Visa exchange rate at the time to calculate the JPY equivalent of AUD 3.50, and this amount will be applied as the cash withdrawal fee2
Currency conversion on purchases and withdrawals
When you use your card for a purchase or withdrawal in a currency that is not loaded, or when we automatically transfer funds between the currencies on your card to enable the completion of the transaction
The rate applicable is the Visa exchange rate at the time of the conversion plus 3.00%.
Transfer between currencies
When you transfer funds from one currency to another on the same card or to another Travel Money Card account via NetBank or the CommBank app
Transferring from a foreign currency to another foreign currency:
The rate applicable is the CommBank Retail Foreign Exchange Rate at the time of the conversion. The applicable rate will be shown to you when completing the transfer and prior to you confirming.

Transferring from AUD to a foreign currency:

When you transfer money from your Travel Money Card to another Travel Money Card or to a CommBank transaction account

  • The cash withdrawal fee will not apply to cash withdrawals made in Australia.

    Transfer is only available to an eligible Commonwealth Bank account in the same name. Any withdrawal or balance enquiry fee will come from the currency for which you are using your card.
