What is a School Banking Co-ordinator?

The School Banking Co-ordinator’s role
The School Banking Co-ordinator is a volunteer and helps to facilitate the program at the school. Their role includes collecting deposits from students, facilitating the Rewards Program and depositing the money at their nearest Commonwealth Bank branch. As a School Banking Co-ordinator, they are required to faithfully and diligently perform all duties pertaining to the School Banking program.

Becoming a School Banking Co-ordinator
School Banking Co-ordinators need to register individually with the Bank prior to volunteering for the program. This provides access to the School Banking Portal and ensures they receive all relevant communications. To register simply complete the School Banking Co-ordinator application form (PDF).

As part of the School Banking Co-ordinator registration process, the School Principal must certify the application on behalf of the school. The school, as per the individual requirements for volunteers in each State or Territory, will assess and verify the suitability of the person prior to engaging in school work or approved community work such as the School Banking program, and could include but not limited to a Working With Children Check.

Prior to assisting with the School Banking program you are required to take the time to read the School Banking Co-ordinator Handbook. It provides all the information to help School Banking Co-ordinators run the program at their school, including maintaining students’ privacy, deposit processing procedures, the Rewards Program for students and health and safety as a volunteer.

Identification and your personal information
School Banking Co-ordinators are required to register their details to be established as unique users of the School Banking Portal. The Bank only collects this personal information to assign user identification, manage password changes and to contact users directly from time to time regarding School Banking; it will not be used for any other purpose.

Removing a School Banking Co-ordinator
If a School Banking Co-ordinator is no longer volunteering for the School Banking program, they must notify the Bank personally without delay by contacting the School Banking Helpdesk directly by email at schoolbanking@cba.com.au or phone on 1800 674 496 (weekdays 9am-5pm, Sydney/Melbourne time).
