Earth Hour

Making the switch to lower energy use

Earth Hour was pioneered in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million people and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Today, it's a global movement, with more than 120 countries taking part.

Earth Hour raises awareness of global warming and our impact on the environment. It’s a practical demonstration that individuals acting together on a large scale can make a big difference.

The Commonwealth Bank has been a proud participant in Earth Hour since it started in 2007. We will be participating again in 2011, turning off more than 1.4 million lights at Commonwealth Bank branches and business centres around the country.

Join us on Saturday 26th March at 8.30pm and turn off your lights for Earth Hour.

This is just one of the ways we're working to make our business more sustainable.
