The Commonwealth Bank’s Staff Community Fund provides a tax-effective way for our employees to financially support community groups that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of Australian children.
The Fund was established in 1917 to provide cots for infants after WWI. It has since developed to provide funding for a whole range of children’s charities.
There are three main programs the Fund supports:
The Community Grants program allocates grants of up to $10,000 to community organisations and grassroots programs that will directly benefit children in their local community. Since its inception in 2007, the program has contributed more than $1.55 million to local community projects.
We’ve been the principal partner of the Humour Foundation’s Clown Doctors for almost 10 years. Clown Doctors bring fun and humour to children’s hospitals around Australia by using magic, mime and mimicry.
Midnight Basketball engages youth in need through sport and educational activities. Held during school terms on a Friday or Saturday night, the participants play basketball and attend compulsory workshops designed to address issues such as money management, drugs, alcohol, anger management and finding employment.

We have been proudly supporting the Australian of the Year Awards for 30 years.
