Community Grants Q and A’s

Q. How much can I apply for?
A. You can apply for a Grant for any amount up to $10,000.
 

Q .What if my program needs more than $10,000?
A. If you need more than the Grant amount applied for it can be supplemented with money from other sources.
 

Q. How long do I have to spend the money?
A. If you’re successful you will need to spend the money within 12 months of receiving the Grant.
 

Q. How old can the kids in the program be?
A. Programs must benefit the health and wellbeing of Australian children and youth who are less than 20 years of age.
 

Q. What is Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status?
A. Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) organisations are entitled to receive income tax deductible gifts. All DGRs have to be endorsed by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) unless they are named specifically in the income tax law. Please check with the Australian Business Register regarding your DGR status.
 

Q. What if I don’t have a DGR?
A. Only DGR organisations are eligible to apply for a Grant. The Australian Taxation office can provide help or advice regarding your DGR status.
 

Q. Who is funding the Grants?
A. Donations come from current and retired Bank staff
 

Q. Can I receive less than the Grant amount I ask for?
A. As we have limited funds sometimes we may award less than the Grant amount you asked for.
 

Q. Can I apply on behalf of an organisation?
A. Only an authorised representative of an eligible organisation can apply for a Grant.
 

Q. Do I have to bank with the Commonwealth Bank?
A. No
 

Q. My program benefits children overseas can I apply?
A. Only programs that benefit Australian youth and children are eligible to apply.
