All schools applying for a Commonwealth Bank Foundation Financial Literacy
Grant are required to read and agree to the Conditions of Entry before
submitting their application. Information on how to make a submission forms
part of these Conditions of Entry.
Eligibility to Enter
- Entry is open to any Government, Catholic or Independent school teaching
students in Years 7 to 12 in Australia as recognised by their state or
territory education system.
- A maximum of one application per school may be submitted.
Opening and Closing Dates
- Applications open 21 July and close 17 September 2008 (3.00 pm EST).
- Schools may submit their application any time up until 3.00 pm EST on 17
September 2008.
- No responsibility is accepted by the Commonwealth Bank/Commonwealth Bank
Foundation for applications that are late or not received, or entries with
incorrect details.
Submitting an Application
- Applications must not infringe copyright of any person.
- Applications must address the requirements as set out on this website.
- All sections of the application form must be completed before being
submitted.
- Applications that exceed the word limits to responses as specified will not
be considered.
- Images, graphics, files or supporting evidence are not permitted as part of
your application.
- Applications must be submitted via the application e-form.
- Please call us on (02) 8572 5611 from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday if you
have trouble accessing the e-form.
Judging of Applications
- Applications will not be returned to schools.
- Decisions by the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered
into.
- The Commonwealth Bank, its agents and contractors and/or state/territory
judging panels are unable to give individual feedback to schools about their
application.
Expenditure of Grant Funds
- Schools must use the $3,500 grant to implement their financial literacy
program, as per their application and within their school.
- The Commonwealth Bank Foundation/Commonwealth Bank may request proof of
expenditure of the grant from any of the schools awarded a grant.
- Schools may supplement the $3,500 for their financial literacy initiative
with additional funds. However, in submitting their application for their grant
they must base the application on a $3,500 budget.
- Schools must spend the grant allocation money within 12 months of receiving
the grant or they may be required to return the unspent funds.
Non-Completion of Grant Program
Where a grant is made and a school is either:
- unable to complete the program within 12 months of the date of the
grant;
- unable to complete the program on substantially the same terms as outlined
in the grant application; or
- unable to proceed with the grant program due to a change in
circumstances;
The school is required to contact the Commonwealth Bank Foundation to
request a variation to the terms of the grant.
The preference of the Commonwealth Bank Foundation will be for grant
programs to proceed under revised terms and the grant will only be revoked if
revised terms cannot be agreed to the satisfaction of both parties, taking into
account the Financial Literacy Grant guidelines.
Announcement of Schools Awarded a Grant
- Schools awarded a grant will be notified be telephone and e-mail in
November 2008, prior to announcement date.
- Schools awarded a grant will be presented with a certificate by a nominated
Commonwealth Bank representative at a nominated school assembly before the end
of the 2008 school year. Your school must organise a school assembly
presentation during the period 24 November to 19 December 2008.
Promotion of Successful Schools and Grant Programs
- The Commonwealth Bank Foundation/Commonwealth Bank may promote information
about successful grant programs and schools awarded a grant via various
promotional, media, communication and marketing mediums.
Use of information from grant awarded programs for other Commonwealth Bank
Foundation/Commonwealth Bank initiatives
You acknowledge and agree that in the event that the application is
successful and awarded a grant:
- Commonwealth Bank Foundation and Commonwealth Bank may use all information
contained in the application for conducting further research, evaluation and
development of resources in relation to financial literacy.
- Your school may be called upon to share your program’s outcomes once
implemented through cluster meetings and/or conference presentations or
seminars.
- All intellectual property rights in all work product that may be developed
from such research evaluation and development will be owned by Commonwealth
Bank Foundation and Commonwealth Bank.
Privacy Statement
The Commonwealth Bank Foundation and Commonwealth Bank collects personal
information including name and contact details for the purpose of administering
the Commonwealth Bank Foundation Financial Literacy Grants. The Bank may
disclose personal information to agents, contractors or service providers of
the Bank; Business Educators Australasia; or the Department of Education and
Catholic and Independent schools office/association in each state and
territory.
Your e-mail address will be added to a mailing list to update you about
information about the Commonwealth Bank Foundation Financial Literacy Grants
Program, Commonwealth Bank Foundation and other Commonwealth Bank financial
literacy initiatives. If you do not wish to be added to this list please advise
the Commonwealth Bank Foundation on your application or email financialliteracygrants@cba.com.au
None of the personal or school information provided to the Commonwealth Bank
Foundation and Commonwealth Bank through participation in this Financial
Literacy Grants Program will be provided to parties other than those mentioned
above without your consent, except where authorised or required by law.
Schools Progress Feedback Sheet
- For the Commonwealth Bank Foundation to evaluate the ongoing success of the
Financial Literacy Grants, schools awarded a grant will be sent a one-page
progress feedback sheet to assess the strengths and weaknesses of their
financial literacy progress and how it has enhanced financial literacy in their
school.
- The feedback sheet will ask for an evaluation of the program and details of
expenditure to date on the initiative.
- In accepting the Financial Literacy Grant, the school agrees to complete a
one-page progress feedback sheet including details of expenditure on their
financial literacy program. The progress feedback sheet is due back to the
Commonwealth Bank Foundation by 1 September 2008.
