Our StartSmart programs ensure the Commonwealth Bank Foundation communicates to young people in a way they understand and that engages them in an interactive, engaging and fun learning experience at a time when money is starting to play a big part in their lives.
Delivered by world class professional facilitators, and created in close consultation with education experts, our StartSmart programs are high energy and educational and are designed to ensure that young people walk away with new skills in money management.
Since its inception in 2007 StartSmart has reached over 120,000 students right across Australia, and this year our StartSmart programs will reach more young people than ever before with the introduction of our StartSmart Primary Program.
StartSmart programs include:
StartSmart Secondary Workshops
StartSmart Secondary Workshops are available to schools in rural and
regional locations around Australia. The 2 hour interactive sessions give Year
10 students the opportunity to develop essential money management skills. The
content of the workshops is relevant to the curriculum and covers everything
from getting a job to bank accounts, credit cards, mobile phones, managing
debt, income and tax.
Workshops are held twice a year when our facilitators go on the road visiting up to 200 rural and regional locations per year.
StartSmart Secondary Schools Program
The StartSmart Schools program is offered to metropolitan secondary schools
and offers fun, interactive and engaging money management classroom sessions
for students in Years 9 to 11.
Hosted at your school by our professional and dynamic facilitators, there are four modules available: SmartEarning, SmartSaving, SmartSpending and SmartInvesting. The Schools program is delivered throughout Terms 1 to 4.
StartSmart Primary Program
The Commonwealth Bank Foundation is proud to present our new StartSmart Primary
program. Students learn about a range of topics including identifying and
understanding currency, thinking about the difference between ‘wants’ and
‘needs’, the importance of saving and budgeting, and managing their money in
relevant, simple day-to-day situations.
Tailored sessions are available for Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 classes. StartSmart Primary is currently being delivered in metropolitan cities, with plans to visit rural and regional locations across Australia in Term 4, 2010.
