Activate your card

After you receive your new card in the mail, you’ll need to activate it before you can start using it. There are two ways you can do this:

Online — you can instantly activate your credit card online:

• Log onto NetBank
• Go to the ‘Manage Accounts’ tab
• Click on ‘Activate my credit card’ and you’re done.

Not registered for NetBank? You can register online now. It takes just a few minutes to do and it’s free.

Phone — you can activate your card at any time by calling 13 2221 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and select option 2, and then option 2 again.

Managing your card
As soon as your card is activated, you can start using it to make purchases or pay your bills online from your account. You’ll find some useful tips and advice on how you can get more from your card here.

Top 4 things you may wish to do when you activate your card:

Register for online statements
Online statements offer a convenient way to manage your finances, help reduce paper clutter and ease the strain on the environment.

If you register with NetBank for online statements, you can view, save and print up to seven years of past statements and two years of transactions for your credit card account.

Transfer a balance
Looking for a simple way to save on fees and streamline your finances? Transfer the balance of any other Australian issued credit or store cards you have to your Commonwealth Bank credit card and you’ll only pay a low 5.99% p.a. in interest for the first 5 months on the balance you bring across. Please note that the interest free period (up to 55 days) on purchases and most bill payments does not apply to any purchases whist a balance transfer remains outstanding.

Additional Cardholder
Need an additional cardholder? This service is free for all Low Fee, Low Fee Gold, Low Rate or Low Rate Gold credit card holders. For our Awards, Gold Awards and Platinum Awards cards, the additional cardholder fee is only $15 p.a.

Switch your direct debits
Want peace of mind on your monthly card payment? Set up Autopay: an automatic direct debit from your savings or transaction account to cover your minimum payment each month or to pay off the total balance. You can also download the direct debit request form and take it into any branch.

 
Link your accounts
Take care of all your banking in the one place. We link your credit card account to your other Commonwealth Bank accounts making it easy to access and transfer funds using NetBank, telephone banking or an ATM.
