Tomorrow+

As part of our commitment to helping our customers and supporting Australia’s transition to net zero, CommBank Tomorrow+ raises awareness of the range of products and resources available to support home energy upgrades for eligible customers.

Supporting customers on their sustainability journey

Feedback from consumers has highlighted an interest in learning more about the potential savings they can make by becoming more energy efficient, as well as how energy efficient products can reduce their environmental footprint. And this interest is translating into action.

Since CommBank’s Brighte Marketplace went live earlier this year, and since the launch of the Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, we have seen an increase in customers requesting more information about our energy efficiency offers.

This is consistent with the findings in the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) recent Inquiry into the National Electricity Market report1 which highlights that ‘solar customers continue to grow and have lower bills’. The report states that solar customers consistently have lower median bills compared to non-solar customers across all regions, and during the 2023–24 financial year, solar customers had about a 28% lower median bill.

The report also finds that ‘more residential customers continue opting for solar despite the lower solar feed-in tariffs’. The ACCC reports that although solar feed-in tariffs are declining, solar customers still benefit by using the electricity that they generate. By using their own solar power, they can avoid buying electricity from their retailer at higher retail rates.

CommBank Tomorrow+: energy efficient products and resources

Through CommBank Tomorrow+, customers interested in electrifying their homes or switching to a lower-emissions vehicle may be eligible for discounted rates on home energy upgrades for solar, battery and electric vehicle loans. There are also smart tools available in the CommBank app, to help households and businesses save on more sustainable choices.

Alex Matthews, CommBank Executive General Manager Environmental and Social says:

“Customers are curious about practical ways to save money on their energy consumption. These home energy upgrade offers aim to make that easier, which can help customers unlock savings and reduce their emissions over time."
