Kit, the kids’ pocket money app built by CommBank, has today launched its Kit Cares Community Program, a new initiative that recognises the organisations that improve the lives of young Australians and promotes the importance of financial literacy.
To support their valuable work, four community organisations will each receive a $10,000 cash prize[1] to invest in essentials like equipment, coaching, and new or improved facilities.
In addition to the four main prizes, participating community groups from around the country will also have the chance to win a range of smaller cash prizes and vouchers.
“Kit is on a mission to help kids grow up financially capable – confident talking about money, curious about how it works, and equipped to make smarter financial decisions,” Kit Managing Director, Yish Koh, said.
“Financial wellbeing is just one piece of the puzzle – it connects with physical and community wellbeing to build a bigger picture. We know how formative those early years are, and the vital role that grassroots and community organisations play in helping kids develop teamwork, confidence, and resilience.
“By joining the program, your organisation helps families access tools that build strong financial foundations – and get rewarded for it.”
Non-profit and local community organisations, such as P&C associations and sports clubs that support children aged 5 to 15, have until 30 March 2026 to register for the Kit Cares Community Program via the Kit website. Once registered, it will then be up to local communities to help their chosen organisation win by completing smart money activities on the Kit website every fortnight.
Each completed activity will count as one vote, and you do not have to be an existing Kit customer to support your local community organisation – voting will be open to every family around Australia, from 1 March 2026 through 24 May 2026.
CommBank Matildas midfielder, mum of two, and Kit Ambassador, Tameka Yallop, said:
“Health and financial wellbeing are both essential pillars of a child’s development, and Kit Cares brings those worlds together. Just like I improved at football through practice, building strong money muscles works the same way.
“As a parent, I know how much families care about their children’s wellbeing, their involvement in the community, and helping them build lifelong skills like financial capability. That’s why I’m so proud to be part of a program that connects the dots and I’m looking forward to connecting with the Kit community.”
