Commonwealth Bank welcomes the release of Financial Counselling Australia’s “Rank the Banks” survey for 2017.
Group Executive Retail Banking Services Matt Comyn said that while the survey results were pleasing, there is more work to be done to keep improving how we help people in need.
“We understand that we have a responsibility to deal fairly and compassionately with vulnerable members of the Australian community,” Mr Comyn said.
“We acknowledge that, in the past, financial counsellors and those organisations who help vulnerable customers were telling us we need to do a better job.
“We’re pleased that the work we’ve put into improving our dealings with financial counsellors and people facing financial hardship is showing measurable progress.
“This shows we are closer to where we need to be, but we are determined to keep listening and improving.”
Improvements to financial assistance systems, support for customers suffering family or domestic violence, earlier engagement with customers experiencing financial difficulty and better financial solutions were among many initiatives being worked on, Mr Comyn said.
