Commonwealth Bank makes two Advice appointments

Commonwealth Bank today announced the appointment of Mr Hugh Humphrey to the position of General Manager, Bank Financial Planning. Mr Humphrey will be responsible for Licensees Commonwealth Financial Planning and BW Financial Advice (CFPL and BWFA).

Mr Humphrey will join the Advice team on 4 February, 2016, from AMP, where he was Director, Strategy & Transformation for the Advice, AMP Bank & Corporate Super Business. Previously he was Managing Director, Hillross Financial Services.

Executive General Manager Wealth Management Advice, Marianne Perkovic, said: “Hugh has more than 15 years’ experience in the financial services and telecommunications industries with a strong track record in leading transformational programs for both retail customers and financial advisers.

“Hugh has demonstrated great success developing market-leading digital advice technology and we look forward to having an innovative and people-minded leader join the team.”

Prior to joining AMP, Mr Humphrey held several senior management positions in the telecommunications industry with Singtel Optus and Vodafone. Mr Humphrey began his career as a Management Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Henley Business School, United Kingdom.

Commonwealth Bank has also appointed its first independent Chair to the Boards of Commonwealth Bank Advice Companies – Commonwealth Financial Planning Limited, BW Financial Advice Limited, Financial Wisdom Limited and Count Financial Limited following an extensive search.

Ms Anne Templeman-Jones will replace Commonwealth Bank Wealth Management Group Executive, Annabel Spring as Chair of the Boards. Ms Spring will continue to serve as a director. Ms Templeman-Jones is the first independent Chair of the Commonwealth Bank Wealth Management Advice Company Boards.

As Chair, Ms Templeman-Jones will work with the existing executive directors to contribute to the development of strategy and monitoring of management, risk and compliance activities of Commonwealth Bank’s Wealth Management financial advice businesses.

Ms Templeman-Jones is a highly experienced professional with 25 years’ experience working in senior management and Board roles across financial services organisations in corporate and institutional banking, wealth and private banking and risk management. She has advised some of Australia and New Zealand’s largest companies, including Westpac, ANZ and Bank of New Zealand in commercial roles, and organisations including at TAL Superannuation, Cuscal, GUD Holdings Limited and APN News Media as a non-executive director.
