CBA and National Australia Day Council end 38 year partnership

Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Day Council (NADC) have today confirmed that CBA will end its partnership with the NADC and its sponsorship of the Australian of the Year Awards.

Commonwealth Bank has been a proud sponsor of the Australian of the Year Awards for 38 years’, helping to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of some extraordinary members of our community.

National Australia Day Council Chair, Danielle Roche, OAM, said: “The National Australia Day thanks the Commonwealth Bank for its support of the Australian of the Year Awards over the past 38 years.

“As our longest-standing partner, the Commonwealth Bank helped build the Australian of the Year Awards into the nation’s most prestigious individual awards, celebrating the contributions and achievements of extraordinary Australians with millions of people in Australia and around the world.

“The National Australia Day Council has a wonderful group of partners and looks forward to celebrating extraordinary Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards in 2020 and beyond.”

Monique Macleod, Chief Marketing Officer of Commonwealth Bank, said: “Decisions such as these are not easy and we greatly appreciate the opportunity we have had to work with the NADC and to support the Australian of the Year Awards.

“Having been a proud and long standing partner of the National Australia Day Council for 38 years, we believe it is the right time for us to review this sponsorship.

“We will work closely with the NADC to ensure a smooth transition as we hand over our sponsorship duties by the end of the calendar year.”

The National Australia Day Council (NADC) now begins the search for a new sponsor for the Australian of the Year Awards. The NADC will provide updates on the progress of this search in due course.
