Supporting Australia’s transition

  • We’re focused on supporting our clients as they transition their business models to a low carbon economy and ensure their operations are fit for the net-zero future.

Our carbon markets team enables financing and risk management solutions across global carbon markets that support our clients to achieve their climate goals. We have deep experience in key global carbon markets, having been involved in the European Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) since 2014. We are also active in Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), New Zealand carbon units (NZUs), Californian-Quebec market and International Voluntary Offsets.

Supporting project developers

There are a range of land-based, industry or transport carbon reduction projects that can create revenue opportunities. Project developers have the opportunity to finance their project through the Australian carbon market, and connect with public and private sector entities through the supply of carbon credits.

We can facilitate your ACCU purchases and surrender credits on your behalf, instantly offsetting your emissions.

CommBank can provide upfront financing for a stream of ACCUs on a fixed or floating price basis. Or giving access to working capital by unlocking the value from the carbon credits currently on your balance sheet.

We can also assist you in areas of risk management, giving you the ability to hedge against changing carbon prices through access to derivatives.
