Customers need a smart meter in order to access the real-time wholesale energy prices with Amber. If you don’t already have a smart meter, Amber will install one for you. Amber is usually able to install a smart meter at no additional cost, though occasionally smart meter installs require additional electrical works to make your existing meter safe to upgrade.
