What is financial planning?

Financial planning is about developing strategies to help you best manage your money now, while also planning ahead so you can reach your financial goals.

At your initial, no-obligation consultation, your Commonwealth Financial Planner will work closely with you to understand your current situation, show you how to set realistic goals, then work out the steps you need to take to achieve them. Above all, they’ll make sure any financial strategies are tailored to your situation, risk appetite and personal goals.

Watch: The value of advice

A simple 3-step process

One

Meet your financial planner: To prepare for your initial consultation, you’ll need to think about what you want to achieve, such as your short-term and long-term goals, and the kind of lifestyle you want now and in the future. Before your first meeting we’ll contact you to let you know what documents to bring along.

Step 2

Your personalised plan: Your Commonwealth Financial Planner will develop a personalised plan for you, explaining the options and answering any questions you may have. They’ll also explain any fees that will be payable if you proceed with implementing the recommendations.

Step 3

Implementation: If you proceed, your Commonwealth Financial Planner will put your plan into action, keeping you informed along the way. They’ll stay in touch and if your needs change, they’ll be able to help you tailor your plan accordingly.

To kick-off your journey towards a more secure financial future, book your free initial consultation with a Commonwealth Financial Planner today.

How many appointments will I need?

The number of sessions you might need depends on your goals. Your Commonwealth Financial Planner will give you an indication when your plan is developed. You may only need a couple, or you may choose ongoing support with regular reviews and updates to keep you on track.

How much does financial planning cost?

Your initial consultation is absolutely free. Then, if you decide to proceed, your Commonwealth Financial Planner will explain all the costs involved, including a fee for developing your personalised financial plan and the costs of managing your investments over time. At every stage, they will clearly set out all the costs before you decide to continue.
