Benefits of consolidating your super

If you’re an existing Essential Super customer you can bring your super together into your Essential Super account and:

How to find and consolidate your super using the CommBank app

If you’re an existing Essential Super customer and you’ve provided your TFN for your account, you can choose to use the CommBank app to search for and consolidate any other super you may have into Essential Super.

Step 1

Log on to the CommBank app and select your Essential Super account.

Step 2

Click ‘Consolidate my super’ and a search of the Australian Tax Office (ATO) database will be completed. You’ll see your results and can select the super you wish to consolidate, if any.

Step 3

Read through the important information before consolidating, including any insurance cover you will lose by consolidating and click ‘Consolidate Super’.

Some important things to consider

Remember, before you make a decision to consolidate your super, you should compare the costs, fees, risks and benefits of your other super funds against Essential Super. It makes sense to consider whether you can replace any insurance cover you may lose upon rolling over, potential costs for withdrawing from other super funds, as well as any investment or tax implications.

Please see the Product Disclosure Statement and Reference Guide for specific terms that apply to insurance cover in Essential Super, including what’s not covered. For example, for the first five years of your cover, a benefit won’t be paid if it is due to a pre-existing condition. Generally, a pre-existing condition is an illness or injury that you were aware of at any time in the 3 years immediately before the date your insurance cover commences, recommences or increases. The pre-existing condition exclusion won’t apply after the fifth anniversary of your cover if at any time after that anniversary you are capable of working in your usual occupation for two consecutive months. Additional exclusions also apply.

Haven’t provided your Tax File Number (TFN) on your Essential Super account? You can add it to your account using the CommBank app. Text APP to 0417 041 041 to get the mobile app link sent to your phone.
