Flexible working

  • As we build tomorrow’s bank today, we’ll continue to experiment with new patterns of work that balance the needs our customers, teams and people.

  • Reimagined ways of working

Many of our teams have adopted hybrid working, where we complement coming into the workplace with working remotely.  When the balance is right, we leverage the best of independent, focused time with in-person collaboration and connection.

We’re giving our employees flexibility in how, when and where they work.

Our employees are the architects of this strategy, and flexibility will be key going forward. It’s our responsibility to empower our people to get the job done during the schedule that works best for them and their teams, and provide flexible options to help make them even more productive.

Check out some of our locations.

  • Adjust your working hours

Working 9-5, five days a week doesn't work for everyone. Many of our roles provide the flexibility to adjust your start and finish times or to work fewer hours than a standard full-time job, while providing all the perks of a (pro-rata) full-time role.  Examples of these include working a shorter fortnight, working part-time or job-sharing.

Even if a role doesn’t specify part-time or job-share, we always encourage you to ask whether it’s available.

  • Extra leave options

Want to spend school holidays with your kids? Planning a week-long hike? Over and above annual leave, sick leave and long service leave, we offer further leave options to eligible employees. These include parental leave, additional purchased annual leave (up to 4 weeks), career breaks, carers leave, community service leave, study leave, compassionate leave, unpaid leave and even 3 days of life leave a year.

Your wellbeing

If you work for us, your wellbeing comes first. See how.

Kyle's story

“I recently became a new dad to a beautiful baby girl. We lived in Sydney and loved it, but with our wider family living in Queensland, we knew we needed to be closer to them. I spoke to my manager about my options, and we came up with a plan for me to work remotely in Toowoomba while still supporting my stakeholders in Sydney.

"When my little girl was born, my partner wasn't able to take much time off for maternity leave. However, I had the opportunity to take 12 weeks' parental leave and some annual leave I had saved up. Overall I had almost five months off work to be with my daughter while my partner worked part-time. If it wasn’t for the support I received from my manager and CommBank, I wouldn’t have been able to relocate or take time off to experience being a new dad.”
