Flexible Working

Your hours

Working 9-5, five days a week doesn’t work for everyone. Many of our roles provide the flexibility to work fewer hours than a full-time job requires, while providing all the perks of a (pro rata) full-time role.

Even if a role doesn’t specify part-time, we always encourage you to ask whether it's available.

Extra leave options

Want to spend school holidays with your kids? Planning to hike Everest? Over and above annual leave, sick leave and long service leave, we offer further leave options to eligible employees. These include parental leave, additional purchased annual leave (up to 4 weeks), career breaks, carers leave, study leave, community service leave, compassionate leave, unpaid leave and even a moving day.

Job sharing

Sometime wish there was more than one of you? With a job sharing arrangement, the duties and responsibilities of one role are shared by two people across the working week.

Donna's story

“I purchased my first property in my early fifties. A few sacrifices had to be made along the way, such as staying at home more instead of going out for expensive dinners and buying secondhand furniture. The discipline of saving was initially a challenge, but being able to see the money grow really helped me stay on track.

"It wasn’t until I joined CommBank that I understood the importance of setting financial goals. I knew I had to change my mindset about money, and those small sacrifices really made a difference. It’s never too late to turn your dream into a reality.”

Kyle's story

“I recently became a new dad to a beautiful baby girl. We lived in Sydney and loved it, but with our wider family living in Queensland, we knew we needed to be closer to them. I spoke to my manager about my options, and we came up with a plan for me to work remotely in Toowoomba while still supporting my stakeholders in Sydney.

"When my little girl was born, my partner wasn't able to take much time off for maternity leave. However, I had the opportunity to take 12 weeks' paternity leave and some annual leave I had saved up. Overall I had almost five months off work to be with my daughter while my partner worked part-time. If it wasn’t for the support I received from my manager and CommBank, I wouldn’t have been able to relocate or take time off to experience being a new dad.”
