Benefits for retired staff

Banking Benefits are available to eligible current and retired employees of the Commonwealth Bank Group.

Eligible retired employees include those that have been ill health retired, staff that have been retrenched and who were 55 years of age or over as at the date of retrenchment, and to the spouse of those staff that have sadly passed away in service.

Benefits are available to the retired staff member and their spouse/defacto partner after exit. In addition there are separate credit card offers for both the ‘retiree’ and the ‘spouse/defacto partner’. The full suite of ‘retiree credit card offers’ are only available to the spouse/defacto partner in the event of the retiree's death, subject to normal credit assessment.

Benefits offered change from time to time. For the latest information regarding benefits that are available to you and/or your spouse, please call Our Branch on 1800 054 000.

Information pack

An information pack has been developed to assist you in the event of the loss of a loved one.  To lose a loved one is a traumatic experience and then to be faced with the fear of suddenly having to manage one's affairs singularly is indeed daunting - "Who do I advise - What do I do? My husband/wife as the "banker" has always done it".

Of course, it is impossible to cover all aspects as each situation is individual in itself. However, the information offered may ease a little of the trauma associated with the loss of a partner and help in attending to some of the estate matters. This pack helps to identify the processes to be followed in the event of the death of a retired officer and a place to record your important personal and financial records.

School Banking Co-ordinators

School Banking Co-ordinators are volunteers who are vital to the success of the School Banking program. Supported by our School Banking Specialists, they facilitate the program, collect and process deposits at CommBank branches or Australia Post Offices, and manage the Rewards Program.

Schools are assigned a School Banking Specialist to assist Principals and Co-ordinators facilitate the program. They provide regular advice and tips on how to encourage participation either over the phone or through in-school visits (for schools in metro locations or major regional centres).

If you are interested in becoming a School Banking Co-ordinator at your local school, please call the School Banking Helpdesk on 1800 674 496 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) or email
