As a CommBank Gold, Platinum or Diamond credit card customer, you can enjoy international travel insurance. It’s included with your card - simply activate via NetBank before you travel.

Your included travel insurance covers more than just you - it also covers your spouse / partner and up to 10 dependent children travelling with you.

When you activate your included insurance via NetBank or over the phone, you‘ll receive a Certificate of Insurance with a personalised policy number, giving you the confidence you need when you travel.

How it works

Get cover in three easy steps:

  1. Activate via NetBank
    Log on to NetBank to register your travel plans and activate your insurance.
  2. Add optional extras
    Extend your cover by purchasing upgrade options such as increased cover for Rental vehicle excess, increased Snow cover or increased Cruise cover.^
  3. Receive your Certificate of Insurance
    Your Certificate will be emailed to you with your personalised policy number and cover details.

If you activate while travelling there will be a 3 day waiting period before you receive the activated level of cover.*

If you don’t activate you’ll receive Base cover which includes personal liability cover and unlimited overseas medical assistance and hospital expenses only.*

Optional extra packs

You’ll have the option of paying for additional specialised cover by upgrading to one of the Extra packs^.

  • Cruise pack: Includes cover for lost or damaged formal cruise clothes, pre-paid shore excursion cancellation, cabin confinement due to illness or injury and marine rescue diversion.  
  • Ski pack: Cover for hire, repair or replacement of snow sports equipment, alternative ski arrangements due to weather conditions, as well as cover for unused lift passes, ski hire or lesson costs if you’re sick or injured during your trip.
  • Increased rental vehicle excess cover: If you rent a vehicle with a higher excess than the already included cover.

What's not covered

Understanding what is and isn’t covered before you go can help ensure the cover offered is right for your needs. 

  • Like any insurance, there are some exclusions and limitations you should be mindful of before you go
  • Some activities you may wish to do may be considered dangerous and aren’t covered

Under 80 

  • If you don’t activate you’ll receive Base cover which includes personal liability cover and unlimited overseas medical assistance and hospital expenses only.
  • For cover for pre-existing medical condition/s, you’ll need to provide details and, if accepted for cover, conditions may apply.

80 and over

  • If you don’t activate, you’ll receive personal liability cover only 
  • For medical cover you’ll need to apply for an upgraded medical cover policy, at an additional premium. You’ll be required to  complete a medical assessment which determines whether this cover can be provided
  • If medical cover is declined you’ll still receive all the non-medical benefits of an activated policy (excluding medically-related cancellation).

When you’re away

  • Don’t forget to take a copy of your Certificate of Insurance with you. It includes your policy number and contact details for Allianz Global Assistance if you need help.You received this via email when you activated your cover

If you haven’t activated your travel insurance

  • You have Base cover which includes public liability and unlimited medical and hospital assistance cover only. You can activate while travelling, however, there is a 3 day waiting period before you receive the activated level of cover#

Claims or emergency assistance

If you left for an overseas trip before 1 July 2015 the existing rules and eligibility criteria for complimentary cover provided by Zurich will apply for any claims or emergency assistance.+

When you get home

  • Make any claims within 30 days of returning from overseas
  • To make a claim, fill in a Travel Claim Form (PDF 218KB) and send it to Zurich
  • Include copies of documents that support your claim and show that you qualify for cover.
