Code of Banking Practice

The Commonwealth Bank is a signatory to the revised Code of Banking Practice.
The Code of Banking Practice requires us to make available to you general information on a range of banking matters, including:

  • the rights and obligations of all parties in a banker/customer relationship
  • how we handle your personal information
  • what to do if you are in financial difficulty
  • what to do if you have a complaint

Under clause 40 of the Code, we have produced guidelines to provide customers with information relating to how we will deal with applications relating to transfers of mortgages and consents, and otherwise enforce debts affected by Family Law property settlements:

For your benefit, we have published a booklet called The Better Banking Book, which contains all the above information and more.  Copies are also available from any branch, or by calling 13 22 21 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday.
