Excellence in financial education

At CommBank we’re always asking questions. That’s why we undertake extensive research to help improve financial education levels and guide the development of our programs.

In 2014, we interviewed International thought-leaders in financial education and financial inclusion to determine leading thinking, emerging best practice and the latest trends in financial education. Below is a summary of their insights.

In 2013, in partnership with the Australian Council for Education Research, we assessed the efficacy and impact of the StartSmart program. In all eight categories reviewed there was a positive impact recorded and an educationally significant impact in six of the eight categories.

In 2012, to create our workshops for vocational education students, StartSmart Pathways, we worked with the Workplace Research Centre at the University of Sydney, to gain an understanding of the specific financial education needs of Australia’s Vocational Education and Training students.
