Krisha Jilson

Gordon, ACT

IT programmer by day and Bollywood instructor by night, Krisha, is all about giving back to the community.

Krisha started her Bollywood dance school nine years ago with a small group of 30. This has now grown to a huge 2,000 students, "It's just that I wanted to spread the dance and music of Indian culture, because Australia has given me so much of its own culture. I came as an overseas student and I thought this would be a nice way to give back to the community."

Krisha incorporates giving back to the charity whenever possible. For all concerts that are held, all profits that are made go to charity, "Our school is not about making profit, as long as we can break even".

Krisha feels Bollywood dancing is a dance style that is fun and enjoyable for all, "There are a lot of smiles, lots of laughter and I have got ladies that have been here for nine years. So we must be doing something well!"
