Organisations we've supported at past CommBank Tour events:
Agquip - Gunnedah Can Assist
Gunnedah Can Assist is a not for profit organisation that is solely run by volunteers raising vital funds to provide direct financial support to those in the local community that have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment. Gunnedah Can Assist is committed to ensuring that all country people within the Gunnedah region have financial support to help them access cancer treatment and care.
Gold Coast Show - Cancer Patient Transport Service, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation
Last year, the Foundation helped just under 2,000 patients make it to their critical chemotherapy and radiation treatments on time. This vital cancer patient transport service is one of the Foundation’s largest financial commitments, with costs nearing $250,000 per year. The donation of $10,000 will transport close to 100 cancer patients who normally wouldn’t have made it to life saving treatment.
Wagga Wagga Show - Riverina Cancer Care Centre
The CommBank Tour donation will enable the current shade sail that sits over the patient’s courtyard to be replaced so patients can continue to use the courtyard during sunny periods. Patients use the Riverina Cancer Care Centre courtyard as a place to sit and wait in the fresh air and embrace the outdoors and reflect. As well as the shade sail, the upper courtyard at front of the building will be enhanced and added to thanks to the support of The CommBank Tour.
SXSW Sydney - Chris O'Brien Lifehouse
The CommBank Tour donation will support the 'Stronger' exercise physiology program with the purchase of exercise equipment to continue delivering group and one-on-one exercise sessions.
'Stronger' is an exercise program delivered in the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Living Room, the supportive care and integrative oncology centre. The program is delivered by highly experienced and skilled exercise physiologists who work with individual patients to set up a program specific to their needs, treatment plan, limitations, and preferences. The plan can include group exercise classes in the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse gym, a home routine, one-on-one sessions, and a gym program that can be modified before, during and after treatment, surgery, and beyond.
Bendigo Agricultural Show - Bendigo Health Foundation, Cancer Wellness program
The CommBank Tour donation will support Bendigo Health's Cancer Wellness Program, a comprehensive initiative designed to support the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of cancer patients and their carers throughout their treatment journey and into survivorship. The program offers a variety of complementary therapies and support services aimed at enhancing quality of life and promoting holistic healing. By providing regional patients person-centred care close to home, the travel burden is significantly reduced, which is especially important for patients already fatigued from cancer treatment.
Whittlesea Show - Northern Health Foundation, Cancer Wellness Lounge, Northern Hospital Epping
The donation will be used to enhance the adjacent garden area of the Northern Health Wellness Lounge, creating a peaceful, accessible outdoor space exclusively for cancer patients. This revitalised garden will offer a therapeutic environment that promotes relaxation, emotional wellbeing and recovery.
It is estimated that approximately 2500–3000 cancer, oncology and palliative patients will benefit from the garden makeover each year at Northern Health. Many of these patients spend extended periods within the hospital and the upgraded garden will provide them with a quiet, restorative space to support mental and emotional wellbeing during a challenging time.
