What is Accessibility Mode?

  • Accessibility Mode provides a number of ways for your customers who are blind or have low vision to complete a transaction.

These methods include tapping the card, swiping or inserting the card, and using tactile indicators to enter a PIN.

Design features

The Smart terminal has clear, tactile indicators around the screen to assist customers with orientation of the device when entering their PIN on the terminal.

Smart Terminal user guide

  • We’ve created an accessibility guide, which provides important information for you and your staff. It explains how to use the Accessibility Mode on your Smart terminal, and how your customers who are blind or have low vision can activate the feature and complete a transaction.

We recommend you keep a copy of the guide within easy reach for reference as needed. The following videos and transcripts also provide guides on how to activate Accessibility Mode and take payments.

Other options for your customers

    • The Smart terminal also accepts contactless EFTPOS. This means customers no longer have to insert their card for transactions less than $100
    • Customers can also use domestically issued signature preferred cards. These can be issued by certain financial institutions to accommodate special needs of individual card holders and are subject to specific criteria
