What you'll need

  • Permission to create maintenance requests
  • The BSB and account number of the account you'll like to add
  • The name and details of the account

There are 2 ways to add bank accounts to CommBiz

CommBank accounts with simple authorisation rules

Use this option to:

  • Add CommBank accounts
  • Define an Electronic Account Authority. Choose up to 10 identified users on your service to authorise payments
  • Approve requests online instantly
  • Approve requests offline (paper-based)

CommBank & non-CommBank accounts with custom authorisation rules

Use this option to:

  • Add CommBank or other bank accounts
  • Define a custom Electronic Account Authority
  • Set different authorisation rules for different payments amounts
  • Approve requests offline (paper-based)

Which accounts can be added to CommBiz?

These active accounts can be added to CommBiz:

  • Business Transaction Accounts
  • Business loans
  • Credit cards (including Corporate Credit Cards)
  • Foreign Currency Accounts
  • Business Foreign Currency Accounts
  • Cash Deposit Account
  • Asset Finance
  • Contingent Liability Facilities
  • Business Investment Accounts
  • Term deposits

Add CommBank accounts with simple authorisation rules

    1. Log on to CommBiz. Go to Admin, then select Maintenance Requests, then Add Account(s)
    2. Select Add CommBank Accounts
    3. Review the entity name to ensure the correct account list displays. Select Get started

      Note: If you’d like to add an account not displayed or an account owned by someone else, go to Other Accounts.
    4. Select the accounts you’ll like to add, then Next
    5. If you'd like to add an electronic account authority, select Yes or if you'd like to link the account without authorisers, select Not now and go to Step 7

      Note: If you don’t add an electronic account authority, you can still see your accounts in CommBiz, however you won’t be able to complete payments (Users with "View" and "Create" roles will be able to create a payment which will expire after 7 days).
    6. Select how many authorisers and their names, then select Next
    7. Select Add to repeat the process for any other accounts or select Not Now and any remaining accounts will be linked without authorisers
    8. The request will need to be approved by the people listed on screen. Select Next to continue
    9. Select Next. Review your request and Edit or Submit

      Note: The request is created and needs approval. 

  • Your online approvers need to:

    • Log on to CommBiz and select Functions, Account Requests, then Requests to authorise
    • Select the request, review the details and Approve or Reject

  • If your request requires paperwork:

    • Once approved, go to Admin, Account Requests, then select Requests in process
    • Select the request number, then download and print the form(s)

To view, track or cancel an account request, go to Admin, then Account Requests.

Add CommBank and non-CommBank accounts with custom authorisation rules

    1. Log on to CommBiz. Go to Admin, Maintenance Requests then select Add Account(s)
    2. Select Add Account(s)
    3. Select Add accounts, then Next
    4. Select the account type
    5. Enter the account details and select Add

      Note: To add more than one account, repeat this step.
    6. Select Next

      Note: If the account is already linked to a different CommBiz Service and an Electronic Account Authority already exists, you will not be able to define a new authority (how many authorisers are required to complete a payment) and you will see a message ‘To make this account transactable please add an electronic authority after the account is linked’. This means that you cannot add authorisers to the account during the linkage request. 
    7. On the Account Summary page, follow the prompts to add an electronic account authority (if available). Select Next

      Note: If you don’t add an electronic account authority, you can still see your accounts in CommBiz, however you won’t be able to complete payments (Users with "View" and "Create" roles will be able to create a payment which will expire after 7 days).
    8. Review your request and Modify or Submit

      Note: The request is created and waiting for authorisation. 

  • If your request requires paperwork:

    • Go to Admin, then select Maintenance Request
    • Select the request number, then download and print the form(s)

      Note: For non-CommBank accounts, there's another form you'll need to print, sign and have completed by the other bank.

Good to know

To view, track or cancel a maintenance request, go to Admin, Maintenance Requests, then Maintenance Request Status List.

Users with custom permissions

  • When new accounts are added to your existing CommBiz service, they will not automatically be visible to users with customised permissions.

    A CommBiz Administrator must update the relevant user’s access before the new accounts can be seen.
