Deposit only cards are suitable for business owners and employees who need to make cash deposits.

To use a deposit only card, you must:

  • have a Relationship Manager
  • meet eligibility criteria
  • have an active CommBank business account

They can help confirm if it’s right for your business cash deposit needs.

What is the standard order time?

Deposit only cards and PINs are sent separately by mail and usually arrive within 10 business days.

Express Post is also available.

How to make a business cash deposit

Use a deposit only card to make a business cash deposit at a CommBank ATM.1

Follow these steps below to complete your deposit.

Step 1

Insert your deposit only card into the card slot at a CommBank ATM.

Enter your PIN.

Choose what you want to deposit:

  • coins
  • notes
  • cheques

Follow the prompts to:

  • enter deposit values
  • select an account
  • choose a receipt type

Step 2

Insert your cash or cheques into the ATM.

Depending on your deposit type:

  • Insert notes and press Continue
  • Pour coins into the tray and lift the handle
  • Insert cheques into the cheque slot

Follow the prompts to continue your deposit.

Step 3

Enter an agent number if prompted.

An agent number is a business identifier used to distinguish deposits from different sources into the same account.

Step 4

Enter a description (optional) and confirm your deposit details.

Choose your receipt option, then collect your card.

For privacy reasons, your account balance doesn't appear on the receipt.

Frequently asked questions

If you’re not eligible for a deposit only card, there are other ways to deposit cash or cheques.

These include:

  • ATM deposits using QR Cardless2 - you and your depositors can use the CommBank app to make fast, secure deposits at CommBank ATMs
  • CommBank Business cards – use at Australia Post or CommBank ATMs
  • Depositing at a CommBank branch

Deposit only cards have daily transaction limits, account limits and limits by deposit channel.

At a CommBank ATM:

  • Deposit up to $10,000 per day, per card
  • No fees

At a CommBank branch:

  • Standard $5.00 fee per transaction
  • ID required for deposits over $1,000
  • CommBank profile required for deposits of $10,000 and over

At Australia Post:

  • Deposit up to $8,000 per card, per deposit
  • Standard $5.00 fee per transaction

Total daily account limit:

  • Cash deposits into an account can’t exceed $10,000 per day, regardless of deposit channel

If your PIN is lost or forgotten, you’ll need to order a new deposit only card.

A new PIN will be issued with the replacement card.

An agent number is a business identifier used to distinguish deposits from different sources into the same account.

Agent numbers are up to 6 digits long.

If enabled, you’ll need to enter the agent number at the ATM when making a deposit. It may also appear on your receipt.

Deposit only cards can’t be used for withdrawals, transfers or balance enquiries.

They’re designed for cash deposits only, making them suitable for businesses that need to deposit funds without accessing other account features.

You can use deposit-only cards at CommBank change exchange machines (CEMs) to convert notes into coins, or coins into notes

To find your nearest machine:

  • go to Locate Us
  • select ATM
  • filter by note deposit, cheque deposit or coin deposit

If the ATM is unavailable, you can make your deposit at the nearest CommBank branch.

The transaction fee will be reimbursed to your business account.

If your deposit only card is about to expire, it may be automatically reissued.

Cards are automatically reissued if:

  • there have been deposits in the last 3 months

If your card has only been used at a change exchange machine (CEM), or hasn’t been used recently:

  • it won’t be reissued
  • you’ll need to order a new deposit only card
