Frequently asked questions

Getting started & rollout

We'll contact you before your service moves to the new CommBiz. You may also see messages within CommBiz directing you to information, guides and support materials to help you prepare.

Yes. CommBiz services are being transitioned as part of a planned rollout, so users belonging to the same service will move together.

We're progressively modernising CommBiz. Some experiences have been redesigned, while others continue to operate as they do today. This allows us to introduce improvements sooner while maintaining access to existing functionality.

Security & MFA

Administrators can manage users, permissions and service settings.

Requiring MFA when Administrators log on helps protect these functions from unauthorised access. It also means Administrators will not need to authenticate again when accessing Admin tasks during the same session.

In the coming months, we will introduce MFA to CommBiz at logon for all users, along with additional authentication options. MFA is being introduced in stages, so you may not see the change straight away. We will provide more information, including timing for you, closer to the date.

As an Admin, you’ll need an eToken (in CommBiz Mobile) or a physical token to complete MFA when you log on. Learn more about Security Token options here

To register for CommBiz Mobile, you'll be sent a one-time NetCode by SMS. Make sure your mobile number is up to date in CommBiz.

No. Once you authenticate when you log on, you will not need to authenticate again when accessing Admin tasks during the same session.

New home page & navigation

Yes. The new home page allows you to customise widgets, create quick links and arrange information to suit your role and preferences.

Widgets provide quick access to information, tasks and insights directly from your home page. They can be arranged to suit how you use CommBiz.

The new navigation groups related activities into hubs and common workflows, helping you find what you need more quickly and reducing the number of clicks required to complete tasks.

Yes. Core functionality remains available. While some features may have a new location or look different, the new design aims to make common tasks easier to find and complete.

Payments

The way payments work remains familiar, but payment activities are now brought together into a payments hub designed to make tasks easier to find and manage.

Yes. The payments hub provides visibility of upcoming payments and payment activity, helping you keep track of what requires attention.

Payment approval requirements do not change, however approval experiences have been simplified and provide greater visibility of payment status and outstanding approvals.

To strengthen security, each authoriser must use their own CommBiz details when approving payments.

Administration

The Admin hub is a central location for key administration activities, helping Administrators manage users, access and service maintenance more efficiently.

No. Your existing roles and permissions will remain the same unless changed by your CommBiz Administrator.

In CommBiz Classic, go to Admin > My Profile > Permissions Mode to view your current permissions.

If your role includes Administrator permissions, you’ll need a security token to access Admin functions. If you no longer need Administrator access, speak with your CommBiz Administrator.

Insights & reporting

Insights provide information about your business performance, including cash flow trends and reporting designed to help you better understand and manage your business.

Yes. Insights include reports that can be accessed and downloaded directly from CommBiz.

Yes. Insights are now on the home page in the Cashflow widget. Making insights easier to access within your everyday banking experience.

CommBiz Companion

CommBiz Companion gives you 24/7 access to an AI-powered assistant (if enabled on your service) that can answer common “how do I?” questions or connect you to a person if required.

No. The AI-powered assistant cannot access or make changes to your accounts, roles or permissions.

Yes. CommBiz Companion can connect you to a human agent during business hours. You can also call us 24/7 on 13 2339. Depending on your question, you may be asked to verify your identity.
