How it works

  1. Cardholder pays using their credit card
  2. Your EMV 3DS service provider packages up and sends the transaction data to the Issuer via the authentication request
  3. The Issuers EMV 3DS service provider determines the transactions risk
  4. Issuer may prompt the cardholder to verify their ID e.g. with a one-time password, biometric authentication etc
  5. Upon successful authentication, your payment gateway submits the transaction for processing

Things you should know

EMV 3DS is only available via Hosted Checkout and eInvoicing (not APIs)

From October 2020 liability will sit with Mastercard, Visa and American Express (AMEX)

To enable EMV 3DS for AMEX you will need to contact AMEX directly for credentials to pass to CommWeb Support.
