Scams that target businesses

Learn the main types of scams that can target your business, including business email compromise and phone impersonations.

Scams that target businesses

  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Never click on a link provided by a caller, or in an email or SMS
  • Use an eToken to help secure your connection to CommBiz
  • Set up Electronic Account Authorisers to approve payments, requiring multiple approvers

Stop. Check. Reject.

  1. Stop - Does a call, email or text seem off? The best thing to do is stop. Take a breath. Real organisations won’t put you under pressure to act instantly.
  2. Check - Ask someone you trust or contact the organisation the message claims to be from.
  3. Reject - If you’re unsure, hang up on the caller, delete the email, block the phone number. Change your password if you think someone else may have it, and make sure you pick something long and unique.

eToken

An eToken is our recommended method of two-factor authentication. It's ready for immediate use once activated in the CommBiz Mobile app – no need to carry a physical device or consider battery life as with physical tokens.
