How to set up Samsung Pay on your mobile

  1. Samsung Pay comes pre-installed on most recent Samsung phones. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Google Play store
  2. Sign in to your Samsung account and choose your verification method
  3. Use your phone's camera to capture your card information or manually add the details
  4. For security purposes, choose between receiving an SMS verification code or logging into the CommBank app to verify your identity
  5. You’re all set to start using Samsung Pay

How to set up Samsung Pay on your Samsung wearable

  1. From any screen, press and hold the Back key on the Gear S3 for 1-2 seconds
  2. Rotate the bezel to the right to view basic instructions, then tap the arrow to start the set up process
  3. Sign into your Samsung account (if you haven't already). Tap OK to continue, then tap START
  4. To add a payment card, tap ADD CARD
  5. Tap TURN ON to set up a secure screen lock (if you don't already have one set)
  6. On your Gear S3, enter a four-digit PIN, then re-enter to confirm it

Which devices are eligible for Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay is compatible with all Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 models as well as Gear S2 and S3 smart watches. See the full list of devices

Which cards are eligible?

CommBank Mastercard and Visa debit or credit cards are eligible to be used with Samsung Pay. To load a card, tap add cards from the Samsung Pay menu screen and use the camera to capture your card information or enter it manually.  Please note that you will need to update your card details into Samsung Pay if your card is reissued for any reason. 

What happens if my Samsung device is lost or stolen?

If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Samsung’s Find My Mobile service to remotely lock or wipe your device. This will lock or wipe Samsung Pay as well as your registered cards2. Alternatively, contact us on 13 2221 and we will delete your cards in the Samsung Pay app. 

How secure are Samsung Pay transactions?

When making payments using Samsung Pay, your CommBank card number is not stored on your device or shared with merchants. Merchants will only see your Virtual Account Number, which is an alternative to your card number. It’s a way of protecting your card details so they aren’t exposed to anyone other than you.

If you suspect a fraudulent transaction has occurred on your account, please contact us on 13 2221 immediately. When it comes to payment security, CommBank is a leader in fraud protection. So if we identify any unusual activity, you’ll be alerted immediately.  And, if the unlikely happens and an unauthorised transaction occurs on your card, we’ll reimburse you 100%.3

3 Provided you comply with the terms and conditions of your account and protect your cards, devices, client numbers, PINs, passwords and any other access methods, and immediately notify us of their loss, theft or misuse or any suspicious activity on your account.

The CommBank app is free to download however your mobile network provider charges you for accessing data on your phone. The CommBank app is available on Android operating systems 4.4+ and iOS operating system 9.0+.
