Frequently asked questions
Once I activate my new card, will I still be able to view past transactions on NetBank?
Past transactions are available by accessing your old statements. These can be accessed in NetBank via the instructions below:
- Click on ‘View accounts’
- Click on ‘Statements’
- Click on ‘View closed accounts’ – this will display the different credit cards and other Commonwealth Bank products that you’ve had
- Finally, click on the old account number to display the statements for that account
Please note that it can take up to five business days for old statements to be available after you’ve activated your new card.
Will my Awards points be transferred?
Yes. Your points will be automatically transferred to your new credit card when your first statement is issued.
What if I activate my card and no longer want the offer?
By activating your new Commonwealth Bank credit card, your existing card (and any additional cards issued on that account) will become null and void. This action cannot be reversed even if you cancel your new credit card.
What if I don’t want to activate this card?
If you prefer, you can continue to use your existing credit card. Please destroy the credit card in the pack.
A brand new card means brand new details. So don’t forget to update your direct debit payments. Once your new credit card is activated, your old one will be cancelled immediately. This means any regular payments you have set up will need to be updated with your new credit card details. It’s easy; just call up your gym, power company, or whoever you have a direct debit with and advise them of your new card number and expiry date. Make sure you consider monthly, quarterly and annual direct debits.
Not sure who you have direct debits with? Simply check your old credit card statements. Direct debits are a personal agreement between you and your service provider so unfortunately we can’t assist you with this. What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. There is no additional fee involved in upgrading to the new card. Your credit limit and interest rate will remain the same too.
How long does the no extra cost offer last?
You’ll enjoy an upgrade and continue to pay the annual fee of the card you have upgraded from, for as long as you hold the upgraded account.
How long do I have to take up this offer?
The primary cardholder has to activate the replacement card by the date indicated in the letter. After activating your new credit card, your old card should be destroyed immediately.
Can I start using my card straight away?
Once activated, you can use your new card immediately. Don’t forget, if you do have an additional cardholder, you will both need to arrange a new PIN, as outlined in the enclosed letter.
What if I have an additional cardholder?
When you activate your card, your additional cardholder’s card will automatically be activated.
What if I don’t want the upgrade?
You can continue using your existing card. Please destroy the credit card in the pack. If you are the additional cardholder, please speak to the primary cardholder first.
I’m currently on a home loan package where I do not pay an annual fee for my credit card. What happens to my annual fee if I leave my package at a later date?
If you leave your package after activating your card, you will only pay the annual fee for the card you have upgraded from.
What if I currently have a fee-waiver on my account?
You will continue to receive it.
