My Spend - FAQs
- What is My Spend?My Spend is a new tool in NetBank that shows you exactly what you spend your money on by automatically categorising your transactions into groups like groceries, rent, fuel and more. You can view My Spend in multiple graphical views so you can compare date ranges, see income versus spend, and much more.
- Is My Spend available for all accounts?My Spend is available to all credit card, transaction and saving accounts in NetBank.
- How do I turn My Spend off and on?Once My Spend has been added to your account you can switch it off and on at any time through NetBank. Simply select the cog-shaped icon in the top right hand corner of the transaction history screen and check the box to show or hide My Spend.
- Will my transactions be categorised automatically?Yes, My Spend will automatically categorise up to two years worth of transactions and will continue to categorise most transactions as you transact on your accounts.
- What if something is categorised incorrectly?You can change the category or set up to 27 of your own personalised categories to make them more meaningful to you. You can choose to apply the changes to similar transactions in the future, or just as a once off.
- Can I turn off the auto categories?No, most transactions are automatically categorised. However you can change the category or create up to 27 of your own personalised categories to make them more meaningful to you.
- Can I rename the predefined categories?No, however you can create your own personalised categories and then re-categorise the transaction.
- Can I add notes or change the description of a transaction?Yes, select the pencil icon next to the transaction description, edit the details, then click on the tick icon to save your changes.
- How do I get the original transaction details back after I change a transaction description?Select the pencil icon, delete the entire description, then click on the tick icon.
- Does My Spend categorisation flow through to statements?Not to the official, downloadable PDF or mail issued statement, however they will appear in transaction exports and print previews.
- How do I mark items as tax-related?Simply click the small ‘tax’ icon, which is next to each transaction.
- Can I unselect a transaction I’ve marked as tax-related?Yes. To unselect, simply click on the ‘tax’ icon next to the transaction a second time. You can do this on the transaction history page or on the TaxView summary page
- Can you still show the separate debit and credit columns with My Spend? No, you can only view one of these options at a time. However, you can alternate between these options by selecting the cog-shaped icon in the top right hand corner of the transaction history screen.
- Will it save my settings if I turn My Spend off?Yes, you can turn My Spend off for up to 30 days and it will continue to categorise your transactions and save your personalised categories.
- How many graphs can I have showing?There are currently two graphs available on the Transaction History Right Hand Stack which you can toggle between (Bar Chart and Pie Chart). There are additional graphs and views available, click the more button to see the My Spend summary page
- Can I customise the charts?You can customise the period you wish to view the charts (the last 7, 14, 30, 90 days or last financial year). You can also switch between category and name view. The following chart options are available:
- 1. Detailed Transactions (Bar Chart)
- 2. Compare Transactions (Pie Chart & Bar Chart) Category & Name
- 3. Income vs Spend (Line Graph)
- 4. TaxView One bar chart: Tax deductible spending and income
- Can I select a specific date range?No, you can only view by time period (the last 7, 14, 30, 90 days or last financial year).
- Can I see the financial year view?Yes, simply select the time period as ‘Last financial year’ from the drop-down menu.
- Can I change colours on graphs?No, the colour of the graphs cannot be changed.
- Can I compare against accounts on what I have spent?You can combine multiple accounts to work out the spending for any combination of accounts that appear on your NetBank, but there is no functionality that displays the spending for one account against another.
- How do I turn off the video?You can hide the video until you log in next time or you can choose ‘do not show me this again’.
