My account number consists of an 8 digit number however I was asked a 9 digit number

Some banks require that you use a 9 digit account number. If you only have an 8 digit number, you must place a 0 before your account number. An example is below:

Account – 012345678.

It will still register as your account as the 0 digit holds no value when placed before another number.
