Our Summer Analyst Program

The global marketplace is as diverse as our client base. As such, we need a range of talent from a broad range of academic backgrounds and experience.

The Global Markets Summer Analyst Program is ideal for students who are passionate about working in the Global Financial Markets. Here you’ll have the opportunity to work across Trading, Quantitative Solutions, Structuring and Sales to provide core global markets products to a range of institutional and corporate clients serviced by Commbank.

In this 10-week program, starting in early December, you’ll become part of a collaborative and inclusive trading floor and take on meaningful and tangible work. Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on the area.

  • Trading: You might be pricing foreign exchange products or building interest rate curves
  • Sales: You may be helping with client pitches or creating financial models to evaluate hedging strategies
  • Quantitative Solutions: You might be supporting the build out of a derivative pricing tool or app for usage within Global Markets
  • Structuring: You could be working on client thematics or bespoke client structures and solutions across all products

Whichever area you’re in, you’ll experience a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and learn first-hand how we create value for our clients.

You'll also receive training and networking opportunities with seasoned industry professionals. You’ll  be supported by a buddy and your team to ensure your success throughout the program.

This program is the perfect launch-pad for your future in Global Markets. If successful, this program may result in a direct placement opportunity into Global Markets at the completion of your degree and will not form part of the Group-wide Graduate Program. You may also be eligible for a part-time opportunity for the duration of your final year of studies to keep you connected with the Global Markets team.

What we look for

Our leaders come from a wide variety of backgrounds – Arts, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, French History and Mechanical Engineering to name a few. We’re not looking for specific degree disciplines, rather we are seeking capabilities that are highly transferable into the day-to-day work we do.

We're looking for high-achieving candidates who are performance-driven, proactive, ambitious and insightful. You’ll have a risk mindset and be adaptable to change within a dynamic environment.
