FAQs

SurePay Instalment Plans are available on our Essentials, Low rate, Low fee and Awards credit cards.

They aren't available on our Interest-free Low Fee cards, CommBank Neo cards, Non-Awards Business cards or Corporate cards.

You won’t be able to set up a plan if:

  • You’ve exceeded your credit limit, or if your account is in default, suspended or has a block (e.g. lost and stolen)

We may also reject a request if:

  • You don’t have an eligible purchase over $100 posted in made within the last 14 days (pending transactions are excluded) to put on a plan
  • The instalment plan amount, including any set-up fee, exceeds your balance owing or limit
  • You’ve reached the maximum of 50 active instalment plans on your account

A one-off set-up fee will apply for Purchase plans. You’ll pay the fee in full as part of your first monthly instalment. The set-up fee will be displayed on your next statement and is non-refundable.

There is no set-up fee if you’re setting up a Balance or Cash Advance plan.

  • In the CommBank app go to Accounts >choose credit card  > Manage  > SurePay plans
  • Or go to Accounts > choose credit card > tap SurePay instalment plans
  • Alternatively, call us on 13 221, or visit your nearest branch

You can have up to 50 active plans at a time, on each eligible credit card.

You can set up a SurePay purchase plan for a single purchase made within the last 14 days. The purchase must be at least $100 for a 3-months plan, $150 for a 6-month plan and $300 for a 12-month plan. At any given time, you can have up to 50 SurePay instalment plans on your CommBank credit card.

It may take up to 3 business days. You will see a ‘Pending’ status on the plan in the ‘Your Plans’ tab of SurePay within the CommBank app. Once set up, we will send you a confirmation email with information about your plan.

Your first monthly instalment and payment options will be shown on the next statement you receive after setting up the plan. The payment due date will align to your normal statement billing date.

You can also track your progress any time in the CommBank app.

Your monthly instalment amount will include the total monthly repayment for all your SurePay plans plus any minimum payment due on your main balance. This is displayed on your monthly statement as the ‘Instalment payment’ amount.
Continue to pay the Instalment amount each month to ensure your SurePay plan/s are paid off as planned and at least the minimum amount on your main balance.

At any time you can choose to pay a higher amount.

If you miss a monthly instalment the missed instalment amount will move to the main balance on your credit card.

If you miss three instalments in a row, your plan will be cancelled and the total remaining amount will be moved to the main balance on your credit card.

For any amount returned to your main balance, interest will apply to the outstanding amount from the transfer date at your account’s standard purchase/cash advance rate. For details, refer to your most recent statement, as rates may have changed after you first set up your instalment plan.

You can cancel your SurePay plan at any time in the CommBank app. There is no fee to cancel a plan.

If a plan is cancelled, the total remaining amount will be moved to your main balance.

For any amount returned to your main balance, interest will apply to the outstanding amount from the cancellation date at your account’s standard purchase/cash advance rate. For details, refer to your most recent statement, as rates may have changed after you first set up your instalment plan.

Cancelling an instalment plan is likely to impact your interest-free periods.

Any payment you make to your account at any time will be applied in this order:

1. SurePay monthly instalment due (even if there are other balances with higher interest rates);

2. Other account balances (from purchases or cash advances);

3. Your remaining SurePay balances.

If you have multiple SurePay instalment plans, payments you make go to the plan with the highest interest rate first. If rates are the same, they go to the oldest plan first.

The interest rate will be fixed for the full term of the plan.

Any interest-free period on purchases will no longer apply to the purchase or balance you set up on a SurePay Plan.

You may be eligible for interest free periods on purchases not in a plan if each month, you pay off all non-instalment balances plus your monthly instalment payment/s by the due date each month.
