  • Secure your account and manage how your card is used

    Securely lock your CommBank Debit Mastercard or your CommBank Business Visa Debit Card when you need to and unlock it again when you don’t. You can use card locks to help protect your account, manage certain types of transactions or support your spending decisions.1

    • Temporarily lock your card
      Misplaced your card or it may have been stolen? Add a temporary lock while you look for it, then unlock your card if you find it.
    • Lock contactless payments
      Prefer to use your PIN? Lock contactless card payments so eligible in-store purchases need to be made another way.
    • Lock online payments
      If you’re not shopping online regularly, you can lock online payments from your card.
    • Lock in-store international payments
      Travelling overseas or want to limit in-store international card use? You can lock in-store international payments from your card.
    • Gambling lock
      You can apply a gambling lock to each of your eligible cards to automatically block most gambling transactions.

Lock in the CommBank app

  • You’ll need to have the CommBank app installed on your phone

    1. Log on securely to the CommBank app and tap Cards on the home screen
    2. Swipe to the card you want to lock and tap on the image
    3. Choose the lock to activate
    4. Log off once you’re done

Lock in NetBank

  • If you’re not already registered for NetBank, you can register now

    1. Log on securely to NetBank and click on Settings
    2. Click Lost, stolen or damaged cards in the Card security & limits section
    3. Click Manage beside Debit Mastercard and choose which lock to activate
    4. Log off once you’re done

Things you should know

  • 1 Locks don’t apply to transactions that are flagged as recurring (e.g. direct debits) and transactions not sent to us for authorisation. This also includes transactions made using Tap & Pay set up on a compatible smartphone, digital wallet transactions (such as Apple Pay and Google Pay), and some online transactions where the merchant has stored your card details.

    Some transactions made in CommBank branches, telephone, online or mobile banking including transfers to other accounts, bill payments, and assisted cash withdrawals are also excluded. Other conditions apply. Refer to the Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions or the CommBank App Terms and Conditions for more information.

    The CommBank app terms and conditions are available on the CommBank app. The CommBank app is free to download however your mobile network provider charges you for accessing data on your phone.
