How to set up your Android phone (NFC)

1. Log on to the CommBank app

2. Choose Tap & Pay on your home screen

3. Tap the way you’d prefer to pay – Wake & tap, Unlock & tap or Open the app & tap

4. Choose your preferred card then you’re ready to tap to pay with your phone

How to set up your iPhone using a PayTag

1. Order a PayTag in the CommBank app first (costs $2.99).

2. Tap the menu and choose Settings

3. Choose app settings then Tap & Pay

4. Tap Order your PayTag, check your mailing details are correct then tap Order. It should arrive in 3-5 business days. 


  • Stick your PayTag to the back of your phone towards the bottom - it even works under your phone’s protective case.
  • Once activated (follow info on the PayTag sticker) you’re ready to tap your PayTag to pay with your iPhone – no need to log on to the CommBank app first.
  • CommBank PayTags can be turned on and off from within the app. Turn it on and you can use it even if you’re not logged on to the CommBank app or your battery isn’t charged. Turn it off and your payment will be declined.

Unlink a card from Tap & Pay in the CommBank app

  1. Choose Tap & Pay, tap Settings
  2. Unlink card
  3. Tap the card you want to unlink
  4. Unlink and turn off Tap & Pay and your payment will be declined

Full terms and conditions available on the CommBank app. The CommBank app is free to download however your mobile network provider charges you for accessing data on your phone. The CommBank app is available on Android operating systems 4.4+ and iOS operating system 9.0+. NetBank access with NetCode SMS is required.

Tap & Pay allows you to use your compatible iPhone or Android mobile phone with the CommBank app to make contactless purchases up to $100 (or other limit) set by the merchant. Tap & Pay is available for compatible NFC enabled phones running Android 4.4 or above - eligible transaction accounts and credit cards only. Other phones may Tap & Pay by ordering a CommBank PayTag in the app.

Available on eligible Mastercard and Visa debit and credit cards only. Not available on AMEX or Keycards.
