Compare different levels of cover for your car, then start your quote — you can switch covers before purchase. You can add Optional Covers or Services for an extra cost3. You'll need to decide what level of cover is right for you based on your needs and budget.
These policy overviews are a guide only. FAQs

Choosing the right car insurance policy for you depends on various factors, including your individual needs and the level of coverage you require. Here are some tips to help you decide:

1. Assess your needs: consider the value of your vehicle, your driving habits and your financial situation. Determine the level of coverage you need based on these factors.

2. Consider affordability: evaluate the cost of premiums and any applicable excesses. Find a balance between the coverage provided and what you can afford.

3. Look for optional extras: many policies will come with optional extras you may be able to add to your insurance, such as roadside assistance. Consider which of these are important to you and look for policies which may offer cover for these.

Both Comprehensive and Comprehensive Saver provide our highest level of car insurance cover, including cover for accidental damage, theft, fire2, and damage you cause to other people’s cars or property.

The difference is in how many kilometres you plan to drive each year, which impacts your premium:

  • Comprehensive Car Insurance: Designed for customers who drive more or don’t want to be limited by the number of kilometres they drive per year.
  • Comprehensive Saver Car Insurance: Designed for customers who plan to drive 15,000 km or less per year. If don’t drive your car often, you may save on your car insurance premium while still getting the same comprehensive cover.

For more details, refer to PDS and PEDG.

An excess is the amount(s) of money you pay or must contribute towards the cost of a claim. There are different excess(es) depending on what your claim relates to.

Some customers choose to increase their nominated basic excess amount to reduce the premium payment. If you do need to make a claim on your policy, we will let you know if you are required to pay an excess in order to finalise your claim. All excess amounts applicable to your cover are listed on your Certificate of Insurance. For more details, refer to PDS and PEDG.

Anyone who is a regular driver should be listed on the policy as a ‘declared driver’. If they aren’t listed, you’re still covered, but additional excesses may still apply. Learner drivers do not need to be listed until they obtain their ‘P’ plates.

Call 13 1361 to add additional drivers to your policy.

If you replace your car with another car during your period of insurance, you'll be given up to 14 consecutive days of temporary cover for your replacement car.

The temporary cover applying to your replacement car will be:

  • The same cover type noted on your Certificate of Insurance
  • For up to 14 days from the time you replaced your car with another car, or until the expiry date of your current period of insurance, whichever comes first

You must contact 13 1361 before the end of the 14 days for cover over the new car to continue.

Car Insurance does not cover you for driving Uber or other ride sharing services.

Yes, you’ll be covered if the international driver’s licence is current (and is recognised by Australian law as valid for driving in Australia) and provided that the claim is covered under your policy.
