To open an SMSF Saver account you'll need to have an eligible CommBank transaction account. This can be a Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA) or a Commonwealth Private Bank Account (PBA) in the name of your SMSF.
SMSF Saver is a high interest savings account designed for self-managed super funds (SMSFs). It helps your fund earn a variable interest rate on surplus cash while keeping your money accessible when you need it.
SMSF Saver is available to eligible self-managed super funds.
SMSF Saver works with a linked eligible CommBank transaction account, so you can move money between your accounts when you need to. This can be either a Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA) or a Commonwealth Private Bank Account (PBA) held in the name of your SMSF.
Visit your nearest branch with all individual trustees or directors of the company trustee for the SMSF to get started.

Once the above information has been verified at your branch appointment, you can proceed to open a CDIA or PBA for your SMSF.
Interest is calculated daily on your SMSF Saver balance and paid monthly on the first calendar day of the month.
There are no monthly account fees or withdrawal fees for SMSF Saver. Other fees may apply for your linked transaction account.
Yes. There's no lock-in period with SMSF Saver. You can move money to and from your linked CommBank transaction account when you need to.
You can receive payments directly into your SMSF Saver using the account's BSB and account number. To make a payment, transfer money to your linked CommBank account first.
You can view your SMSF Saver balance and transactions in the CommBank app and NetBank.
If you can't see the SMSF portfolio feature or your SMSF Saver account in the CommBank app, please check that you are using the latest version of the app. Customers who have automatic app updates disabled may need to manually update the CommBank app through their device's app store. Once updated, you will be able to access these.

SMSF Saver is designed to help your SMSF earn interest on surplus cash while maintaining instant access to funds. Contributions, investment returns and other eligible deposits can be received directly into the account.

SMSF Saver
SMSF Saver is currently being offered as part of a staff pilot. The pilot is expected to run for a period of less than six months. Open Banking data sharing may not be available during the pilot. The Bank may vary, suspend or terminate the pilot before the end of the pilot period.
*Paid on the portion of the balance that falls within each balance band. Rates are calculated daily and credited to your account monthly on the first day of each month. Rate effective date: 7 September 2026 but rates are subject to change.

Eligible CommBank transaction account can be an eligible Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA) or Private Bank Account (PBA) held by your self-managed superannuation fund. If you don't have an existing eligible transaction account, you will need to open a CDIA or PBA under the same name as your SMSF.
The Bank is authorised under the taxation laws to collect an Australian Business Number (ABN) or an exemption code. It is not an offence if you don't provide a TFN, an ABN or an exemption code, but by law, we may be required to withhold a portion of your interest earned on the account.
