What is Tap & Pay and how does it work?

With Tap & Pay you can use your iPhone or Android to make MasterCard® PayPass purchases in store. Simply tap your phone on any PayPass terminal the next time you are shopping*.

How does Tap & Pay work?

Step 1: Open an Everyday Account or use your existing one

Step 2: Download the CommBank app on your iPhone or Android smartphone

Step 3: Tap & Pay with your mobile. Purchase a PayTag for $2.99 via the CommBank app.

Setting up your PayTag

Once your CommBank PayTag arrives, you’ll need to attach it to your device. Don’t just stick it anywhere though; placement is important!

You’ll need to stick the PayTag directly on the back of your phone towards the bottom. Placing it in this area ensures there is no interference with the battery, so you can Tap & Pay first time, every time.

If you have a phone cover, the PayTag will work underneath the cover, but you can also stick the PayTag on the outside of your phone cover too if you like

NFC support

We’re doing some work on Tap & Pay, which means it is currently not available for set up on NFC enabled devices (including Samsung GALAXY S4). Keep an eye out for upcoming app updates. We apologise for the inconvenience.

If you already have Tap & Pay set up using the NFC technology on your Samsung Galaxy S4, you can continue to use Tap & Pay until your card expires. Please refer to our FAQs for support.
