How do I set up Tap & Pay on my eligible Android smartphone with NFC?

To set up Tap & Pay on a supported device you must:

  • Be registered with the latest version of the CommBank app
  • Have an NFC-enabled Android phone with OS 4.4 (KitKat) or above (or able to update to this OS)
  • Have an eligible transaction or credit card account.

To activate Tap & Pay on your Android smartphone with NFC:·          

  • Open the app > Click Tap & Pay (bottom right corner of the home screen) > Set up > Choose preferred card > Choose how you want to pay > Complete set up


You can either wait in the app or exit to the home screen while the set up is in process. 

Ensure NFC is turned on in your phone settings.

Each Tap & Pay card will have a unique digital card number. This will help customer differentiate between payments made on their physical cards and their mobile device and may be useful for exchange or warranty scenarios.
