You’ll start with us in February as a permanent employee, but the length of your program varies based on which Business Area you choose.
Throughout your first year we provide loads of support to help you to maximise your experience:
You’ll complete a rotational program to help you to learn about different parts of your business area. At the end of your program, you’ll be supported to find a role that best suits your capabilities and interests.
Shine: Contribute from day one by working on real projects that impact our business and our customers, within Australia’s largest bank.
Develop: Participate in market-leading training to develop your technical and soft skills. This will help with the transition to full-time work from university and ensure you excel in your immediate and future roles.

We have roles available nationally (both metro and regional), although most roles are based in Sydney.

Our 10-week Summer Intern Program gives you a taste of what it’s like to work with us. You’ll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is the right fit for you.
At the end of the Program you’ll also have the opportunity to apply early for our Graduate Program for the following year.

During the placement you’ll be partnered alongside passionate and energetic leaders and teams, allowing you to work on challenging real-life projects. You’ll contribute to outcomes that positively impact our business and customers. During the placement we’ll encourage you to build your professional network with your peers and with leaders from across CommBank.
Responsibilities for each placement vary based on the team and role you’ll be working with. At the start of our placement, your leaders will work with you to determine a project, set of tasks or targets to achieve during your placement. They’ll consider both your current skills and development goals, as well as look for opportunities to stretch them to enhance your experience.
You’ll have the chance to build key transferrable skills on our award-winning development program through a combination of formal learning events and workplace-based experiential learning. This program is designed to support you to identify your strengths, and showcase them at the end of the placement.

You must have Australian/New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency when you submit your application.
To be considered you’ll need a minimum overall standing of 65% grade point average.
To be eligible, you must be in the final year of a university undergraduate or postgraduate degree or have completed your university studies in the past 12 months.

You’re still considered to be in the second-last year of your studies if you only have a few subjects left to complete in first semester of the next year.

We look for well-rounded candidates who have successfully balanced university, work experience and extra-curricular activities. Our Graduate Program generally takes around 150-200 graduates each year and our Summer Intern Program takes around 120-150 interns each year.
The Graduate Program starts in February. The length of each Program varies depending on which business area you are interested in, but the majority of our Programs run for 18 months. As a graduate, you'll join the Program as a permanent employee.
The Summer Intern Program runs for 10 weeks from late November to February.
The majority of our roles are based in Sydney. We do have a number of roles available in other cities and regional areas, generally across our Business and Private Banking business area.

Yes. We will assist in subsidising interstate travel to Assessment Centres. Available amounts will be discussed with each individual candidate.
Yes. We will provide some assistance to graduates needing to relocate for the Graduate Program. Available amounts will be discussed with individual candidates.
Our starting salary is competitive with the graduate market. We will discuss details of remuneration and our bonus structure throughout the recruitment process. We also offer rewards and benefits that do not make up the cash component of your salary, but still offer cost savings to you.
Yes. We support employees who want to enhance their professional development through tertiary study. This is something you would need to discuss with your manager, as you need to consider the benefit to the business and your ability to manage your work/life/study balance.
While we do have offices around the globe, the majority of our employees are based in Australia. However, in some cases our graduates will have the opportunity to work overseas.
