Finance & Accounting

You'll have the opportunity to work in teams that have a strong reputation for delivering high quality service to business and support teams including management, the Board, our shareholders and regulators.

You’ll work with knowledgeable and driven teams that are trusted advisors and business partners. You’ll provide financial and market analysis, specialist advice, support and insights on financial performance to support our Board, our shareholders and stakeholders in their decision making.

You’ll gain hands-on experience working with multiple data sets and data analytics tools, completing financial analysis and modelling, producing performance metrics and management reports, learning about capital, funding and balance sheet management. You’ll undertake project and ad-hoc work – whilst working directly with clients and stakeholders, with the opportunity to attend and present at management meetings.

Your rotations

Our structured 24-month program includes four rotations across teams such as Group Finance, Product Finance & Divisional Finance teams, Group Treasury, Climate Strategy, Investor Relations, Capital & Stress Testing, Data & Analytics teams, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Audit. 

In your final rotation you’ll be given leadership development opportunities, including regular access to senior leadership (including the Group CFO), uplifted training & development and involvement in a high-value and key priority project. You’ll also have  multiple opportunities to shape culture and drive various initiatives.

Your development & experience

You'll be involved in exciting work and a variety of projects, where you’ll gain valuable skills, knowledge, and exposure to business leaders, building strong networks and connections across the organisation. You'll receive extensive training and development and participate in ongoing forums. We'll also support you in gaining your professional accreditation and furthering your professional career. 

You’ll have the chance to make lifelong friends as you embark on the program with other graduates, with several dedicated social events. You’ll also have the chance to engage in wider community activities through graduate-led community projects and initiatives.

Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M)

Managing CommBank’s relationships with major Institutional, Corporate and Government clients. By joining IB&M you'll be part of a team performing a critical role in providing products and services to stakeholders at the forefront of building Australia’s economy.

After the Graduate Program, you'll have the opportunity to move into an Associate level role in Global Institutional Banking Coverage, Capital Structuring, Commodities, Trade & Carbon, Global Markets, Non-Financial Risk and Conduct or Quants, Data, Analytics and Technology.

You’ll work on high profile projects where you’ll have influence. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of IB&M, benefiting from making live deals and trades while working with our clients. You may also have the opportunity to obtain international exposure and work experience. 

Your rotations: 

Our structured 12-month program begins with a four week 'Early Talent Academy' designed to provide you with a deep dive into the business and the skills you need to succeed.

You’ll then experience three rotations across our public teams (Global Markets or Commodities, Trade & Carbon), private teams (Global Institutional Banking Coverage or Capital Structuring) and enablement teams (Chief Operating Office, Non-Financial Risk & Conduct or Quants, Data, Analytics and Technology). 

Your development & experience

We’re dedicated to maximising your potential through ongoing development opportunities such as deal simulations, financial modelling training and monthly learning sessions. In addition to being connected closely with your IB&M Program Manager, buddy support, and more!  

You’ll gain exposure to transactions and business development activities across product and industry teams. You’ll gain practical experience through financial analysis, writing credit papers, preparation of pitch books, undertaking research projects, working directly with clients, and attending client and management meetings.

Business Banking

(Major Client Group, Commercial, Small Business Banking)

Standing side-by-side with our business customers, providing them with financial solutions to bring their visions to life. 

At the end of the program you’ll transition into an Analyst role, where you’ll be challenged and supported to succeed. 

You'll be providing dedicated relationship management across Australia’s major metropolitan areas spanning the nation’s most innovative, dynamic, specialist and diverse sectors – everything from start-ups to listed companies. 

With customer service at the centre of what we do, you'll be able to bring your passion to life by making a direct impact on both our customers and the community. You’ll be constantly learning new skills and gaining a wealth of knowledge across different industries and various product specialisations.

Your rotations

Our flexible 12–15 month program will see you rotating across three to four teams. You’ll develop your knowledge and expertise to set your banking career up for success.

Your development & experience

With a dedicated Program Manager, grad alumni mentors and experienced rotation managers, we'll guide you to ensure success every step of the way. You’ll be empowered to develop your skills in credit analysis, financial modelling, interpretation of customers’ financial information, and managing the end-to-end lending process. You’ll have the opportunity to support bankers to provide tailored integrated financial solutions.
