Designed to attract the best and brightest, CommBank’s Graduate Program is a challenging and rewarding way to kick-start a long-term career with us.
You’ll start with us in mid-February as a full-time permanent employee. The length of each Program varies depending on the Business Area you’re interested in, most Programs run for 18 months.
Throughout your first year we provide loads of support to help you maximise your experience:
You’ll complete a rotational program to help you to learn about different parts of your Business Area. At the end of your program, you’ll be supported to find a role that best suits your capabilities and interests.
Shine: Contribute from day one by working on real projects that impact our business and our customers, within Australia’s largest bank.

Network: Build networks and friendships through unparalleled access to senior leaders, project leads and Program sponsors, enhancing your personal and business profile.
Contribute: Give back to the community through graduate initiatives, driving positive change across our organisation and improving the wellbeing of our Graduate cohort.

Role locations will be available once applications open, and most of our teams have adopted hybrid ways of working. To learn more about our offices and teams discover life at CommBank here.
You can apply for our Graduate Program online. If your initial application is successful, you’ll have the chance to complete some online assessments, a digital interview, and then possibly attend one of our virtual or face-to-face Assessment Centres to meet with our team. You will be asked to apply for only one Business Area in your application, and this is the role you’ll be considered for.
Our Summer Intern Program runs for 10 weeks from late November to early February, this includes a break period over the Christmas and New Year’s period. The Program gives you a taste of what it’s like to work with us. You’ll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is where you want to kick-off your career once you graduate.
At the end of the Program you’ll also have the opportunity to apply early for our Graduate Program for the following year. If successful, you’ll have secured your graduate role and take the pressure off job searching in your final year of study.
You’ll enjoy an intensive introduction to life at CommBank, learn how we operate, get involved in great projects and meet inspirational people who’ll help you put your career on the right path.
During the placement you’ll be partnered alongside passionate and energetic leaders and teams, allowing you to work on challenging real-life projects. You’ll contribute to outcomes that positively impact our business and customers. During the placement we’ll encourage you to build your professional network with your peers and with leaders from across CommBank.
Responsibilities for each placement vary based on the team and role you’ll be working with. At the start of our placement, your leaders will work with you to determine a project, set of tasks or targets to achieve during your placement. They’ll consider both your current skills and development goals, as well as look for opportunities to stretch them to enhance your experience.
You’ll have the chance to build key transferrable skills on our award-winning development Program through a combination of formal learning events and workplace-based experiential learning. This Program is designed to support you to identify your strengths, and showcase them at the end of the placement.

Our Graduate Program generally takes around 150-250 Graduates each year and our Summer Intern Program takes around 120-150 Interns each year.
The Graduate Program starts in mid-February. The length of each Program varies depending on which business area you're interested in, but the majority of our Programs run for 18 months. As a Graduate, you'll join the Program as a permanent employee.
The Summer Intern Program runs for 10 weeks from late November to early February. This includes a break period over the Christmas and New Year’s period.
The majority of our roles are based in Sydney. We do have a number of roles available in other cities and regional areas, generally across our Business Banking area. Specific locations of our roles will be available at time of application, and you will be asked about your location preference, and locations you'd be open to relocating to.
Our Programs are only available in Australia.
Unfortunately temporary visa holders are not eligible. Applicants must have Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Australian permanent residency at the time the application is submitted.
All successful candidates must have completed their studies and be available to commence full time work in mid-February. Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate late applicants and would suggest you apply for the following year's Graduate Program.
You are only able to select one Business Area preference on your online application. To help you make this decision, we recommend you read about our different Business Areas in detail before applying. If we read your application and think you’re a perfect fit for another area, we’ll give you a call to have a chat.
Please check the Campus events section to find out when we’ll be visiting your university and running events – either face-to-face or virtually.
Find out more about our application process, including tips for a successful application.
We'll keep in touch after each stage of the recruitment process to advise if your application is progressing.
If you don’t receive a confirmation email of your application within 24 - 48 hours of your application being submitted, check your junk folders and set us up as a known email address (cba@myworkday.com) so you don't miss out on important correspondence throughout the recruitment process.
If the Business Area you’re interested in is not appearing on the application page, it means the role has been filled by successful Graduates & Summer Interns and is now closed.
We generally complete all hiring a year in advance. Should any further opportunities become available, these will be advertised on our website. We’d encourage you to join our Talent Community in the meantime so we can keep you up to date with all things happening at CommBank, including any vacant roles.
You may see us advertise opportunities as ‘expression of interest only’. This means that we do not have a current role, however if we have one become available we'll consider applicants who applied to the expression of interest. If and when a role becomes available, we’ll be in touch to re-confirm your interest and availability and discuss next steps.
No. All applications must be submitted online.
