Studying tax? Filling out your first tax return? Want to understand what tax is? Students, teenagers, young adults and anyone who has ever wanted to ask the Commissioner of Taxation a question or two about tax has the chance to quiz Michael Carmody, Australian Commissioner of Taxation on the upcoming forum starting 9th September 2002.

Michael Carmody has been the Australian Commissioner of Taxation since 1993 and is Australia’s most authoratitive expert on tax! Visitors to the Dollars and Sense website forum are invited to ask the Commissioner their questions between 9th – 15th September 2002. Questions can be anything about tax ranging from how to get a tax file number and lodge a return to when do you and don’t you pay tax.

"Dollars and Sense offers a valuable on-line education resource for young people to become better informed about a range of money issues including tax. The forum offers young people a unique opportunity to ask leading finance experts questions of relevance to them. I invite and encourage young people to log onto the forum and look forward to answering their questions," said Michael Carmody.

The Dollars and Sense website has been developed by the Commonwealth Bank to help young people develop money management skills. The website offers clear, concise, objective, and practical information about a range of money matters including tax.
