Commonwealth Bank introduces Mobile GPRS EFTPOS

The Commonwealth Bank today introduced MobileComm GPRS, a portable EFTPOS terminal, which operates on the Optus GPRS mobile data network.

An Australian first, the MobileComm GPRS is the latest release in the Commonwealth Bank’s range of cutting edge EFTPOS products. The Commonwealth Bank’s MobileComm GPRS terminal is designed and manufactured by Keycorp.

"The GPRS data network provides merchants and consumers with a secure way of processing payments, wherever they are. The GPRS data network also offers a lower cost structure, with savings in communication costs, which the Bank will pass on to our merchants," says Peter Roeleven, the Commonwealth Bank’s General Manager, Merchant Acquiring, Working Capital Services.

"MobileComm GPRS allows mobile merchants the capability to process real-time card payments and reduce their cash handling risk, which is a major benefit to any mobile business," said Mr. Roeleven.
