This account doesn't earn interest. To earn interest on your savings, you can easily open an online savings account linked to your CommBank bank account when opening your account, or at a later date.
$15 fee may apply when on a given day, certain payments go through which exceed the then available funds in your account or any agreed overdraft limit. You can only incur one overdraw fee per account per day, regardless of the number of transactions or payments you make on that day.6
You can avoid this fee by switching off the overdraw feature. Simply log on to the CommBank app or NetBank and opt out via the overdrawing preferences located in account settings. You can also give us a call or visit your nearest branch.

Having more than one form of ID will improve your chances of passing the online ID check.
You can complete your ID check in-branch too – you’ll just need to bring these documents.
Each time you open an account that may pay interest, we give you the option to provide your TFN, ABN or TFN Exemption.
You don't have to provide these, but if the account earns interest, CommBank is legally required to withhold tax from any interest earned above a certain threshold.

To eligible for the Public Transport 10% Cashback offer, you must, during the offer period (15 September to 31 December 2025):

You need to spend at least $50 in a calendar month on eligible public transport using your CommBank Debit Mastercard. Eligible spending includes making a payment with, or topping up a public transport card on, an eligible public transport merchant using your CommBank Debit Mastercard.
Transactions must be settled (not pending) by the end of the month to be eligible.
The maximum cashback you can receive is $50 (AUD) per month. or 10% of their total public transport spend.
You are eligible for this cashback for each month during the offer period, when you meet the $50 monthly eligible public transport spend.
Your cashback will be credited to your active Everyday Smart Access Account up to 45 days after the last day of the month in which you meet the eligible public transport spend.

Eligibility Conditions
To be eligible for the Welcome Cashback offer, you must open a new CommBank Everyday Smart Access Account online or in a branch between 15 January 2026 (12:01am, AEST) and 31 March 2026 (11:59pm AEST) (‘the offer period’). The Welcome Cashback offer can only be claimed once per customer, during the offer period.
This offer is for customers aged 18 years and above at the time of account opening and who have never held a CommBank Everyday Smart Access Account previously. Single accounts only. Excludes joint and Everyday Offset accounts.

How to Qualify for the Cashback

Getting Your Cashback
Cashback will be paid to you after you activate (where required) the offer presented to you in the CommBank app and you make a purchase in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of that offer.
Cashback is typically received within 14 business days of a qualifying purchase, but in some cases may take longer. Cashback payment will appear as <CommBank Yello Cashback Offers> in the CommBank App and <CBCASHBACK> in Netbank.

The account can be overdrawn to cover any accidental or unplanned shortfall in funds to meet a payment. This feature is only available for customers over 18. Customers can also set up Overdrawn Account alerts via NetBank or the CommBank App. These alerts are sent as CommBank App push notifications or SMS.
